Support Vladimir Bukovsky a word-known Russian dissident, who is on hunder strike in UK!

…Most unfortunately recent events may prove Bukovsky prescient. Today, after a lifetime of demonstrating only the highest integrity and enormous strength of character, Bukovsky is accused by the UK Crown Protective Service (CPS) of having pornographic images of children on his computer, images he did not place there and has not even seen. He was informed of these charges shortly before going into heart surgery in Germany to replace two heart valves. Like the murder of Boris Nemtsov and the poisoning of Aleksander Litvinenko in 2006 on UK soil, Bukovsky believes these charges are politically motivated and that the images were placed on his computer by Russian agents or allies of Putin in the UK…

Vladimir Bukovsky has long been a champion of freedom in a world of totalitarian lies and terror.  Imprisoned as a young biology student for organizing and attending dissident poetry readings in Mayakovsky Square in Moscow in the early sixties, he has remained steadfast in his opposition to the horrors of communism and to the ongoing crimes of the present day totalitarian government of Putin's Russia.

Bukovsky has chronicled his long periods of imprisonment for dissent in labor camps, prisons, and psychiatric prison hospitals in the Soviet Unio

n with a mastery of language and a stark clarity that reveals the true horror of communist regimes.  His work teaches the power of individual dissent in a political system that refuses to recognize the voice of an individual. His writing was among the first to highlight the growing use of psychiatric hospitals as prisons for dissidents in the Soviet Union and remains a touchstone of courage for all who attempt dissent in totalitarian systems.

Bukovsky now lives in the UK and has remained active in his dissent and vigilant against the authoritarian regime in Russia now led by Putin.  In 1991 he tried to organize a lawsuit against the communist party of the USSR to bring justice to victims of communist oppression; he also advocated a Nuremberg style trial. President Eltsyn was ready to consider this lawsuit, but the leaders of most European countries prevented it claiming that Communism was still popular in the West. In 2007 Bukovsky ran for President of Russia but was disqualified by the Russian government on spurious grounds, including the absurd allegation that he needed documented "proof" that he was indeed a writer-this-after being the author of bestselling books. Always unafraid to call out corruption and state terror, Bukovsky has accused Putin of the assassination Aleksander Litvinenko in 2006 and Boris Nemtsov in 2015. He's compared Putin to Lavrentiy Beria, Stalin's henchman. Bukovsky called for Putin's resignation after the annexation of Crimea.

Vladimir Bukovsky has also criticized the European Union's infringements on speech and other infringements of the EU upon individual rights and liberty. It is Bukovsky's belief that the EU is on the road to becoming a monolithic state entity where individual rights are abridged or denied. To defend his reputation against these anonymous and obscene accusations, Bukovsky is suing the Crown Protective Service for libel.  He is demanding a hearing in the High Court of Justice for England and Wales.  It is incumbent on the court that a hearing be held in light of the gravity of these accusations.  Hearings in the High Court were scheduled and canceled three times without any explanation.

Since April 20, 2016, Vladimir Bukovsky has been on a hunger strike ready to test the limits of his already frail health in order to obtain this hearing. Bukovsky now has diabetes and each day that he is on hunger strike amplifies the danger. Bukovsky is risking his life.  Certainly, someone who has worked so fearlessly and with such extraordinary fortitude to expose the crimes of totalitarian governments, deserves no less than a fair hearing in a court of law.  Given the serious nature of these accusations and the demonstrated heroism of Vladimir Bukovsky and what his life of struggle against tyranny has come to represent for so many all over the world, the High Court of Justice for England and Wales must allow his voice to be heard immediately.  Transparency is required so that courts and police operate in the light of justice. History will not require less.
